Yeah... Like I have to give it more leniency because it IS an otome game but like... it really felt like they where doing a cool subversion and exploration of this character trope and it was REALLY successful! like the story pushes him to his worst behavior and then makes him have to confront the fact that he has to actually confront the protagonist feelings AND respect them. Not just in a superficial way but like in a way where both he and the protagonist are able to be closer without entering into a romantic relationship. But then they get together anyway so what was the point?

Yeah! There are several routes where the protagonist has to confront her prejudice about the aliens, but it feels the most relevant here. There's also a really interesting part in the "True End" where due to plot reason all the aliens "have" to die (they are not naturally occuring organisms and where actually creatures created by and being taken care of by an AI). And where all the other characters are just like "it's sad, but at least they got to live" and Chigasaki get's mad and is like "If they have to die at least don't belittle them and then pat yourselves on the back"hatkirby wrote: Sun Jun 01, 2025 3:59 pm
Yessss I remember you talking about this! I do kind of love a story beat like this because sometimes someone'll find out and be like "it's ok because you're different" and it's like ok... What is different though. Are you just pretending not to hate me, or are you judging other people without due diligence. It sounds like it ended in a really good way
