Good afternoon by almost an hour!

Spacedeer??? You have a local coffee chain called Spacedeer?

Wait this is a starbucks joke isn't it. Damn. I was delighted in the whimsy for a moment.

I do have work today, but it's a lot of waiting for things to run so I have time to dick around too. It was super foggy this morning, and I had a lovely little walk in it. The river (being the Mississippi for those who don't know where abouts I live) is so nice in the morning.... I live right by the river now, as in, a block away from it as opposed to a twenty minute walk from it, and it's so nice to be able to just walk by it on my lunch break. Stick my hands in the cold water. Watch the fog consume the far bank in the morning.

Total tangent but I went to Illinois a few years back and it's so wild to me, how wide the Mississippi gets. Like, it's not a narrow river up here, but I am pretty close to its source, all things considered, and it gets a lot wider further south. I want to visit the Mississippi River Delta one day, and I would like to visit Lake Itasca again too. Just... get a sense of the river in its totality.

Apparently I'm feeling sentimental today, lol.

Back to having a conversation, why is the party rogue the frontline fighter? Is your party so weighted towards spellcasters that your rogue is the closest thing they have to a tank?
Approximately 25% of all animals are beetles. Statistically, this means if you're in a room with three other people, at least one of you is a beetle! If you're having trouble identifying the beetle, remember the acronym BEETLE (Beautiful; Elegant; Eats occasionally; Twinkly-eyed; Loving; Escaped to montana in the spring of 83 after faking their own death, starting anew as "gunne olive", a down on their luck dental nurse seeking to get away from the busy city - and the crime syndicates they owe money to - in the country as a ranch hand).

Good afternoon by two hours!

I was so slorpy this morning I couldn't get out of bend for a few hours. So I stayed home in the morning and got really fixated on Lingo 2 randomizer stuff...... I have ideas....... I'm adding a minimap to the game mod and now I'm thinking about integrating the logic tracker right into the game instead of having a separate tracker program. And then I thought even bigger about how I could have the game talk directly to the generator and let the generator keep track of logic state instead of reimplementing it in the tracker aaand I was like ok I have to go to the office rn. I need to do WORK. and so far I'm getting some done. and I'm listening to Alice Glass.

I totally fell for the Spacedeer thing lol. Now I want some.

That sounds like a lovely walk involving being ensconced in nature and appreciation of the real world, which is endowing you with meaning. can I have some of that. I keep meaning to take a walk but so far I've just walked to the bus stop today. And it's raining.

The Spacedeer comment was a Starbucks reference, yes, sorry to deceive y'all. I made a joke once about how the Gravity-Falls-verse (or TAU-verse) version of Starbucks would have to be Spacedeer and now I can't stop calling it that, haha.

That sounds gorgeous! I love that for you. My last apartment was about a five minute walk from the seawall where I could walk along the rocks or the beach right off the Gulf of Mexico (if I dared crossing the road, which I didn't tend to do in the fog for safety reasons), and I do miss it. It was really nice just being able to walk up to the beach or hang out on the Seawall and just watch the waves. I do like the place I live now though - having a backyard is something I've missed, ha.

Okay so sort of, yes. In the last session, our party was: an artificer who's mostly long-distance guns, a time-fuckery mage who should NOT be up-close and personal to the enemy, another artificer(? maybe cleric?) who seemed more support-specced just out of the one (1) session I've played with him so far, and then my rogue. Our other party member who was absent that session is my roommate's gunslinger who somehow has a larger AC than me (I legitimately wonder about how those specs work since we were capped at a certain point for level1 characters, but I digress) and she's offered to run him as an up-close fighter also, but. That's still only me and a gunslinger who are up close, and if roommate misses another session, it's Just Me. So I need to sway a little heavier towards defense, since I'm the only actual can be melee fighter. And I also got chomped nearly in half by a dinosaur last session when the DM rolled a critical hit by accident, to the point I was EIGHT POINTS OF DAMAGE from getting one-hit for twice my health points and getting a perma-kill, so my character also wants to be a little more chomp-resistant after that too.

I don't mind going for something that's not just Extra Stealth, though. My character's already pretty stealthy as-is, and the way my DM set up his version of sneak attacks is....really not stealth-based at all, for better or worse, so it wouldn't really help me in combat. I'm leaning towards the Arson option for a couple reasons, including for funsies, but I need my DM's input on it first.

Not my 3.5 ed. ass needing to google what an artificer is because they're not one of the classes I remember

Maybe y'all should hire on a fighter, lol. Rogues are squishy!

Also the gunslinger reminded me of a DnD game I played back in highschool with a huge party, like, I think there were ten players or so? Anyway, I was a monk, and there was another monk in the party who ended up picking up some guns. And. I'm not sure if monk's are still a thing in DnD and not everyone here has a DnD background so like, if you are not aware, the whole damn point of a monk is they do unarmed combat good. They absolutely do not have the ability to use a gun well without building them that way for several levels, and even then, why would you do that? That's literally what a ranger is for! You're not gonna do it better then a ranger!

Anyway the other monk ended up starting a massive forest fire with his magical fire enhanced pistols and was a pretty big contributor to my sister's druid almost turning on the party.

Maybe we should end up hiring a tank, lol. The gunslinger is actually a custom subclass with a fighter base, which is why roommate offered to play him as an upfront-combatant as well, which will help for the time being, but we definitely need to figure something out as a party, since I definitely don't need to be trying to tank as a rogue, lol. Honestly kind of surprised the artificer isn't playing tank, but then my experience might be skewed - I play an artificer-tank in my other game, so that might be an association I'm making that isn't actually usually accurate. We're also still trying to lure in another friend or two in this group to the game, so if we do get someone else I might suggest they aim for at least a partially-tank role too.

Also, that game sounds kind of insane. Seconding your disbelief on the monk wielding guns - it sounds like that player should have started with something other than a monk if he wanted to play with guns. Or swapped characters to something built better towards a gunslinger (as in, literally any other class). That's just odd. I can't blame your sister's druid for whatever she did or almost did.

Good morning!

I'm glad you had a good time at the concert, and I hope you recover swiftly from the epic Marina bomb that hit you last night.

Live music is so good. I want to go to more concerts. But also I get nervous about being in crowded spaces, which makes that tricky. Maybe my new neighborhood will have outdoor concerts sometimes, it seems like the sort of place that would.
