Game: We Could Be Immortals

Post by BeelieveinBees »

-------------------------------------------------------
Status
-------------------------------------------------------
Current (11/20/25) year - The fall (northern hemisphere) of 2015

Introductions:
-------------------------------------------------------
What is this?
-------------------------------------------------------
We are Immortals. We were not always so, but we are now. This is our shared Record.

One day in the Player's world a season of this one. Winter is the year's first season, fall is the last.

Our Record starts in 2012, with The Transcendence. In this year everything changed. The veil between the mundane and the fantastic shattered. Magical storms ravished a world completely unprepared to handle them. Societies raced to control the chaos, to apply their laws to all the new possibilities, to exploit what was uncovered to further secure their power.

-------------------------------------------------------
To Play
-------------------------------------------------------
When you begin:
You may join our Record at any time. When you do, note the current year, explain who you were before you became immortal, and how long ago that was.

At the time of joining you will have:
  • One Secret. Something major that you did, that happened to you, that you witnessed, that shapes how you interact with the world
  • Three Relationships. These are the mortals who you are close with. Cherish them while they last, for it will not be forever.
  • Three Keepsakes. These are objects that you hold dear. What memories are tied to them, that make them so precious?
To begin: Firstly, read about our safety rules. Make sure to add anything you want to this list. Secondly, write and post an introduction for yourself, record all your existing Relationships and Keepsakes, the year you acquired them, and any details about them you care to share. Record your Secret. It's alright. No one in this world will see it.

Although the Players will be following your journey, the other Immortals will not automatically know about you. If your Player and theirs agree that you already know each other, establish how much you both know of the other.

You may write in whatever style you desire, in first or third person, in as much depth or lack there of as you feel.

When you care to update the Record, note the year and do up to two additional things:
  • Talk about the Shifting World. Write about:
    • How a new technology is changing things
    • How social dynamics are shifting
    • How a great calamity shook the world
    • How the world changed in another way
  • Give a Personal Update. Write about how you:
    • Gained a Relationship
    • Lost a Relationship
      • If any of your Relationships have reached 50 years, you must check if they have ended.
        • Roll 5d10
        • If the result is under the length of time your relation has lasted - 50, or if you rolled a 5, the mortal has died and the Relationship ends
        • If you roll over, the Relationship need not end, but you may still choose to lose this Relationship as normal if you wish
    • Gained a Keepsake
    • Lost a Keepsake
    • Interacted with one of your existing Relationships
    • Got lost in the memories of one of your established Keepsakes
    • Experienced a moment of beauty
    • Experienced a moment of melancholy
    • Reacted to the Shifting World
    • Reacted to someone else's Personal Update
    • Did something else

If it has been years since you checked into the world last
Give a Personal Update as above and also:
  • Lose all Relationships. You may attempt to reforge them if it hasn't been so long that the mortals are gone for good, but they will remember that you forgot them for a time
  • Tell us about you how did one of the following:
    • Created a great Work, a personal project years in the making. Do you share it with the world? How is it received?
    • Gained a Mastery, a skill far beyond what most people can hope to learn. Do you have plans on what you will do with it? Or was it merely a fixation to occupy your overabundance of time?
    • Reinvented your Identity, what is new and what are you leaving behind?
Always allow someone else to update the Record before you do so again. You may make an update immediately following your introduction.

A word on safety
-------------------------------------------------------
We are using a list of Lines and Veils found here to ensure the content of our world remains comfortable to all Players. Read this list. Add to it if you want to. If it has been a while since you looked at it, refresh yourself on it.

You may add as many entries as you need at any point. If you need someone to edit that which has already been recorded, please explicitly state as much. If you add an entry, please note that you did so in this topic so that people know to check for it. You do not need to specify how the list changed in this topic, that the whole world may see, only that it has changed. If someone else mentions they added to the list, review the list again.

Mistakes happen. If you realize you have posted something that goes against the lines and veils established, please edit your post to remove / de-emphasize the topic. If you are asked to edit your post to accommodate someone's comfort, please do so.

If there is a major shift and something is added to the list with a request for retroactive edits that would notably change how things that have already been established went, you may choose to use spoiler tags to hide the content rather then trying to find a way to edit the content to work with the new parameters. If you use a spoiler tag, make sure to include what topic you are hiding in the top of the tag.

Code: Select all

[spoiler=The name of the Line or Veil will go here]The content will go here[/spoiler]
to produce this:
The name of the Line or Veil will go here
The content will go here
Please only use spoiler tags to obscure old content that did not talk about any lines or veils that existed at the time of writing. If you are writing a new entry to the record, try to keep the current lines and veils in mind. If you accidentally write about a line or veil that is already established as you write, please edit the content to not include or focus on it at all.

-------------------------------------------------------
The world of TAU
-------------------------------------------------------
Before 2012, there was a firm veil in place between the mundane and the magical. Our world was not unlike that of The Players from most people's perspectives. The average person was unaware that magic could possibly be real, and, outside of a few pockets of weirdness where the veil was thin, would be unlikely to run into anything that could suggest to them it was.

The specific details of the veil aren't well established, let it be said that it was as a perception thing. Most humans could not perceive and comprehend magical things, even if they happened right in front of them. There were some rare humans who could, and they had the potential to become mages, but they were few and far between. Even rarer still were humans with The Sight, not just the capacity to observe magical happenstances if it happened to fall in front of them but the ability to sense magic itself, and occasionally to know the future or other truths beyond normal perception.

All of this changed in the end of August, 2012, when an event known as The Transcendence occurred, shattering the veil, bringing massive violent storms of chaotic magical energy tearing across the lands, revealing non-human sapient communities to the rest of the world. It is unclear to the greater world what caused The Transcendence, it is thought it has something to do with the town of Gravity Falls, Oregon, but the people there aren't talking.

Directly after The Transcendence, the world was thrown into chaos. Some places were hit heavily by magical storms, which can have normal storm effects as well as Weird Consequences and sometimes do things to electronics or electromagnetic signals. Some places were barely effected at first, outside of having to grapple with the fact that apparently there's centaurs living here now? And, there have been for years I guess???? The Players will choose wherever you're starting to be either in crisis or just a little confused or anywhere in between, depending on what they are interested in. Logically supply chains would be massively interrupted, but the Players are the true gods here, not logic, so there will be as many details on such things as they find interesting to talk about and no more. Our world is a playground, it does not need to withstand the scrutiny of anyone beyond the Players. As long as they are having fun, all is well.

It is known by some that there is another realm tied to this one, known as the Mindscape, the origin of entities like Demons and Angels, who can only interact with our world if they are pulled into it by a resident through a ritual.

This world is pretty much a mixing bowl for whatever modern fantasy aspects the Players find interesting. There can be whatever mythical creatures they want, and the can make things up wholesale. Souls are a thing, and there's a reincarnation cycle, although in 2012 this is not known yet.

Established Immortals / potential immortals:
  • Vampires - Pretty classic, the main twist is that they get more powerful as they age, an old vampire can handle sunlight again for instance
  • Demons - Agents of chaos who's magic lies in contracts. The established lore is that they are not social creatures at all, but there is one established exception of a human who ascended to a demon (Alcor) and as we aren't canon you could make a second. Or just be Alcor I'm not gonna stop you
  • Angels - Agents of order, who also aren't traditionally terribly personable either but feel free to make up some bullshit about why one might be
  • Magic software - Hasn't been played with much in TAU (outside of the obvious exception), but Gravity Falls proper did have canonical video game characters that gained sapients
  • Genii Locorum - The spirit embodiment of a location. There's not a huge amount of established lore here so go ham if this sounds interesting to you
  • Dryad? - Traditionally live as long as their tree, so if you had a pando situation going on you theoretically could have a very long living dryad
  • Mage - A magic guy who could theoretically hack immortality. This is not an easy nor potentially repeatable feat, and there may have been very large consequences for doing so
  • Kitsune - Hey Book I know you got some fox guys. If you don't have any better ideas these fuckers sure live a long ass time
  • Any other immortal / arbitrarily long lived mythical creature - TAU is a bit of a free for all, do what you want
  • Something made up - Seriously I cannot overemphasize how much this is a do what you want scenario

Ashes

History
It is the final third of 2012, whatever the fuck that means. I don't know enough of the local language to explain that I don't need a name, so I am Ashes, I guess.

I'm not a mortal, nor have I ever been so it wasn't me before. I'm a husk, a tool of the gods. I was one of the first husks made, created five years ago. This does not make me a child, I was created with knowledge with the broken memories of a man named Gyagda, a bastard who made a choice for everyone who came after him so I have always had the ability to fulfill my purpose.

Until now that is.

I have no idea where I am.

I am from the land of Sanctuary which was anything but. It was absolutely terrible where I belonged. Where I still belong. I don't know how to get back, not that I am looking very hard.

This is a strange place. I am in a city, but it's much larger then a city should be, larger then you would think a city could be. The gods here saw fit to make buildings that rival the height of Sanctuary's wall, their sun moves strangely through the sky and hurts to look upon. Water comes out of the sky sometimes, and when this happens the sky will occasionally let loose a scream and an impossibly bright flash of light.

The gods here are strange. There are such impressive feats of their power all over, but I don't know where they reside, and have not received instructions on how to honor them.

I don't know how I got here.

I was having one of the worst nights of my already horrible life learning an important lesson. And then. I was somewhere else. I recall wandering through a calm place who's darkness was absolute. This may have been a dream. I woke up in some sort of healing facility. No one here speaks the language of the gods of Sanctuary, nor the tongue of the Glaygekay. They seem to think I am a mortal, and I don't know how to explain to them I'm not. I don't want to tell them I'm not. I've picked up a few words of their language, of English, but not enough to communicate anything useful.

Appearance

Ashes is a mostly human appearing entity with medium brown skin, pointed ears, a perfectly symmetrical face, and wavy dark brown hair that will quickly grow back to reach their mid-back no matter how often or how short they cut it. They appear to be around 30 years old. Their skin is perfect with no blemishes save a few recent scars, with no body hair, they do not sweat, they don't seem to get sick, they're a perfect little doll of the gods.

Secret
  • There was a man named Gyagda. He's gone now. Not dead. Shattered into thousands of pieces. And the choice that Gyagda made was made for each of those pieces. They never were given a choice of their own. We were never given a choice of our own. Ashes was one of the first ones made, and has some of his memories. Awful memories, taunting them with everything they'll never have, poisoning their thoughts against the gods. They hate that man. They were that man, once
Relationships
  • Carmen - The person of this world who first found Ashes, a excited and impossibly kind person who's helping them learn English. They have an seemingly endless amount of energy about them, a comforting persistent baseline movement, dancing hands and bouncing legs. They are very absent minded and have many projects they are working on of which Ashes cannot fathom what the end goal of is. Met in 2012
  • Liz / Lizard - Carmen's partner(?) who calmer and lower energy then they are. She is good at remembering things like "eating" that Carmen forgets. Met in 2012
  • It's You! - Carmen and Liz's cat. He is so soft. He is so fucking soft. He's soft and warm and makes wonderful noises and he likes to lie on Ashes and be soft and warm and making wonderful noises on them. He is the greatest creature of all time. He is also completely useless, Ashes once caught a mouse eating from his food dish while he watched it. Ashes would murder anyone who attempted to harm him. Met in 2012
Keepsakes
  • Sword - A finely made sword, plated in the sacred metal fijd, which gives it some ability to cut through magic. It is standard for what the gods equipped the husks with. They get anxious if they are separated from it. It's the only object they have left of their... home? Of the land they're from. Acquired in 2007, sort of
  • Multitool - An artifact of this world that Carmen gave them. It has a good weight to it, a mediocre knife, a saw, a bunch of tools that they don't know what the fuck are for, and it can make light, which is pretty cool. Acquired in 2012
  • Felted Cat - A needle felted cat that Carmen made, crafted out of It's You!'s fur. Acquired in 2012

A Note
-------------------------------------------------------
Just to be clear, since I was the first to post an intro and I know I tend to use earlier posts as a template when I do things like this, you do not have to write in first person, you can go into as much or as little detail as you want, you can keep things higher level level if you so choose. Use whatever sort of voice you enjoy writing in. I do not mean in any way to set in stone how introductions are done, so long as you establish your relationships, keepsakes, and secret you can write it however you like.

Fox

History

I have no idea where we are, or what it means when the bizarre sprites that just arrived tell us that the year is "2012". All I know is that we are no longer in the same place we have been for as long as I or any of my ancestors have lived (not an insignificant length); Alothia might be here with us, but when the stars themselves are different and impossible to navigate by, it seems clear that "here" is not the same place as it used to be.

I may be getting ahead of myself.

I am the Fox Greenstrike. Given what we have learned from these outsiders so far, I expect you have no idea what that means, which is...odd, and disconcerting. The simple explanation is that I am not human anymore, and have not been for a very long time; Greenstrikes are chaos demons, powerful chaos elementals, and I am one of two in existence. (I have been one of two in existence for a very long time. Nothing has managed to kill me, yet.) You can call me Fox, or you can call me Rei, as I've been introduced to the newcomers under a human guise, though neither are my true name. You will not be getting that one. (Only family does.)

I am from the island of Alothia, which used to be elsewhere, and is now here. "Here" is, according to the unreliable translation from the newcomers, a planet called Earth; apparently this section of the planet used to be open ocean, and now hosts our island. Everyone on Alothia felt the shift when it happened, felt the overwhelming wave of magic wash over everything we knew and flood us with more chaos magic than anyone had ever felt at one time, but had no idea what had occurred until someone realized the stars themselves had shifted, and not as they do over the course of a season. It took some time for the newcomers to arrive, much less to make it all the way inland to the Fallthrein Settlement where the descendants of my sister the family I watch over have settled in recent decades. They were unlike anything I have ever seen, and seemed entirely unsuited and unused to the dangers of the forest in this region.

Here is what they explained: we are on their planet now, in a world that speaks a host of languages none of them our own, with technology that we have never dreamed of (most of which does not seem to work very well in the magic-dense sections of the forest, to their annoyance) in a world that has been shaken by a magical event they call the Transcendence. Evidently most of the world had somehow not known magic existed beforehand, and is finding out the hard way now. We had been pulled here at the same time, and there is no known way to send us back. There are entities other than sprites and demons; there is magic unknown to anything we have ever heard of; there is far more of a world to explore than I had ever dreamed before now. My family The Estivelles are already making plans to learn more about this strange new world. This family always has been too curious for its own good.

It seems we are here to stay now. I think I would like to go and explore.

Appearance

Fox is a shapeshifter by nature, but they tend to keep similar long-term appearances out of habit. In their base form as the Fox Greenstrike, they look mostly human; they have very dark brown skin, waist-length thin green braids that look like vines, and wear ragged, asymmetrical green clothing contrasted with a series of thin golden chains connected to their armbands and necklace. They also have a half-face mask in the shape of a fox's head, pale white like either faded wood or polished bone, with highlights painted in dark green; their eyes glow bright green behind the eye-holes of the mask. Their teeth are razor-sharp, their ears pointed, and their nails more like long black claws.

Under the name of Rei Estivelle, as they were introduced to the Earth Welcoming Committee as a totally-normal-human, they resemble a human with slightly too-green eyes, dark braids woven with green ribbons and gold beads, and slightly too-sharp teeth when they grin. They seem to be around 35 years old, but it's difficult to tell. They still favor green and gold clothing and move a little too quickly when nobody is looking. If they change their appearance for different identities, I'll update it for the corresponding post, but this is generally what they'll appear to be.

They change their name often, but they refer to themselves mostly as Fox. I'll update their current alias too as time goes on. (She/they/it pronouns that vary over time, also. I keep forgetting to write that down anywhere.)

Secret

The biggest magical process in Alothia is this: any sprite, or weak elemental spirit, of each of the other four elements (fire, water, earth, and air) can undergo a process called succession and kill one of the two demons of their element, absorb its power, and take its place as the new demon. There are no known chaos sprites, and most of humanity in Alothia likes to speculate on where they might be (they're invisible to human eyes; they mimic other sprites like the demons mimic humans; they live only in an area inaccessible to humans; they don't exist at all). Only the chaos demons, the Greenstrikes, know the truth.

And only a chaos demon who once was a terrified teenager fighting for her life in an empty forest to save her fleeing friends would ever deign to tell you, if you could get them to trust you first.

(The secret is this: humans are the chaos sprites, and Fox was once a terrified little girl named Renée Estivelle, who now watches over their long-dead sister's descendants out of habit and responsibility and a soul-deep yearning for a family long-gone. The family watches over them, too, in turn - even if they don't know exactly who it was she used to be.)

Relationships
  • Keren Estivelle - the youngest living member of the Estivelle family, about 25 years old, and the only current generation to actually know the Fox Greenstrike used to be part of their family. She's headstrong, very good at setting things on fire, and views Fox as a loving but distant aunt who visits sometimes and really needs to get more hobbies, so she's pushing for them to get out and explore this new world. [Met...about 25 years before 2012, but in Alothia. Call it 1987 for funsies.]
  • Moira - Keren's girlfriend, about 27 years old, only knows Fox as Keren's weird enby aunt that comes around every couple years. She was pretty sure that the aunt in question was named Fox, but Keren is calling them Rei in public now? So sure, why not, might as well. She's laid-back, loves to paint, and has gotten very good with fire-extinguishing spells in the few years she's known Keren. [Met about four years ago - so, say, 2008.]
  • Alexander - a modern anthropology Ph.D student from the East Coast US who had been absolutely thriving trying to explore everything that's shifted in the world since the Transcendence, and who had absolutely jumped at the chance to join his advisor on the mission to visit this weird new island that hadn't existed before, right up until a fire demon tried to burn him to a crisp. Moira had been the one to put out the fire in his hair after pulling him across the hearth-wards. Now he's assigned to the team working on exchanging information with the Alothians and very carefully staying inside the wards. He's overly curious, collects shiny things like a magpie, gets distracted very easily, ends up in trouble often because of it, and is lowkey terrified of Keren's aunt, even though he really...really likes Keren and Moira both, and he thinks they like him too. Rei is scary though. He can't tell if they like him or not....and probably won't for a while. [Met in 2012]
Keepsakes
  • Mask - The fox-shaped mask that marks Fox as a chaos demon. It holds a large portion of their power. Most of the time it isn't visible or corporeal, only when Fox is actively acting like a demon, but they can summon it when needed. [Acquired far longer ago than Fox wants to admit. Pre-2012.]
  • Ring - A small, thin silver ring on a leather cord that has been replaced time and time again. The ring is too small to fit any of Fox's fingers unless they shapeshift fairly dramatically. They still always wear it, even under the rest of their outfit while out and about as the Greenstrike. (They can't lose their sister's ring. It's the only thing she has left of Aimee.) [Acquired longer ago than Fox ever wants to remember, but far too soon after Fox had become Fox. Pre-2012.]
  • Band - Something called a "goofy bands" bracelet, which is apparently popular in the region where Alexander is from. It's glittery and green, stretches out of shape and snaps back into it when unstressed, and was worn on Alexander's wrist until he gave it to Fox (along with different ones each to Keren and Moira) to keep with a comment on how it "reminds me of you". When not being worn, it outlines the shape of a fox. He didn't even know what they were, just gave it as a gift freely and happened to match color and shape to them. Fox would kill for this kid, even if he is trying to flirt (poorly) with their niece and her girlfriend. [Acquired in 2012.]
Player's OOC Notes
this got WAY longer than intended whoops....oh well. i have lots and lots of art of Fox and more Alothia thoughts if anyone wants an additional area to play around with post-Transcendence. hmu OR find me in a different topic in the creative corner if ur interested :sunglarp:
Alright, I've been thinking. When life gives you lemons, don't make lemonade. Make life take the lemons back! GET MAD! I DON'T WANT YOUR DAMN LEMONS! What am I supposed to do with these?! Demand to see life's manager! Make life rue the day it thought it could give CAVE JOHNSON lemons! Do you know who I am? I'm the man who's gonna BURN YOUR HOUSE DOWN! WITH THE LEMONS!!!! I'm gonna get my engineers to invent a combustible lemon that BURNS YOUR HOUSE DOWN!!!

The Shifting World
It is the first third of 2013.

It has now been months since the transcendence occurred. People are starting to get used to the idea that magic is real and find ways to go about their lives once again. Protocols are being developed for the new normal, with neighborhoods figuring out how to handle their local weirdness. In many places, it's a time of bonding with the neighbors, both because they're dealing with the same bullshit you are, because they're physically present to help you, and because access to the internet and phone service in many places is spotty at best.

It's a thriving time for radical groups, with the governments spread too thin to care about them, local networks being made and enforced, and people in the hardest hit areas having to rely almost exclusively on each other and learning how to make that work.

Capitalism is temporarily given up in the harder hit regions, both because of the normal forces of money getting in the way in a disaster and also because the internet is just down for an extended period some places, people cannot access their digital money reliably, and who the hell carries lots of cash these days? As infrastructure is repaired, internet becoming more reliable and outside trade becoming a more dominant force again, these days are numbered.

Rumors run rampant about the some of the rarer occurrences that have now had enough time to assert themselves. Things like monster attacks, hauntings, curses, demon cults, and other sinister forces are discussed and often blown out of proportion to the actual incidents that sparked the conversations in the first place. Fearmongering thrives, and a almost completely fraudulent market for protective charms, wards, and the like rises out of the cracks like spring weeds.

In places less hit, it's a race to learn how to use magic. A new industry is born, with no idea how to do things at all don't mention do them safely, no regulation yet in place, and no resources able to be allocated from the stretched thin governments to create nor enforce that regulation in the near term. Huge promises are made to investors. Anyone convincingly claiming to have preexisting knowledge on magic can get a comfortable position. Accidents are already starting to happen, and there's going to be some big ones before the right people have both the desire and ability to make the entrepreneurs knock it the fuck off.

Overall the whole damn world is a powder keg right now.

Personal Update - Ashes

I am starting to suspect that something is wrong here.

There are things that seem deeply wrong to me that the locals are prepared to deal with. The outside world has gotten cold, cold enough to freeze water, and the locals just wear thicker clothing. When it started getting cold Lizard gave me a coat that I thought would be sweltering to spend any time in until I went outside in it and found this world simply gets impossibly cold. Hopefully not too much colder then this, but if the gods will it I will endure.

The cold isn't the only thing that appears to be normal. There are loud creatures that glide through the air, from the speed they travel I believe them to be truly massive and very far in the air, yet no one takes note of them. Apparently, they're called planes. But yesterday, on a food run, Carmen, Lizard and I ran into a small drake which was causing problems and the reactions from bystanders where a range of panic to fascination, like they had never seen one before. When it produced a small fireball some people started screaming, despite nothing catching. Carmen was entranced by it, until it breathed fire and Lizard pulled them away. I told them what it was called in the language of the gods, and they've been referring to it that way, apparently there isn't an English word for it. I wonder if it got here the same way I did.

There is also the fact that some of the damaged massive structures, which I thought were simply ancient and worn down with time, are being repaired, and more oddly still, they are doing so without and divine assistance that I can identify. They have very peculiar machines, larger then I know how to communicate, that they use, perhaps those were gifts from the gods? Maybe the gods here have other things they prefer doing, and simply provide their mortals with what they need to do it themselves. Not that it's my place to question. Regardless, I'm starting to suspect that these were destroyed shortly before I arrived.

Did I arrive here with the coming of some great disaster? There had been a lot of rubble in the streets when I first walked through them, I didn't think much of it at the time because I was more distracted by being in a land so different then Sanctuary, but the streets were cleaned fairly quickly after that, and I haven't seen them in the same state since. There's a lot of buildings patched with different material then they are constructed from. I wonder if whatever disaster hit this region is going to strike again.

Personal update: Ashes
Fall of 2015

It's getting cold again. I think I'm starting to get used to the cycles of this place. It will cold for months, I think. I'm not excited about it. Carmen and Lizard are out now, doing something hard to communicate. They didn't need me for whatever it was, and it's cold, so I stayed here.

I decided to practice English writing in the down time.

It's You! Had other ideas.

I had never considered what it would be like to try and reason with a cat before I came here. I have since learned it is an impossible feat.

When I laid the paper out, he decided to lie on it. I moved him to the side. He walked back on it. I moved him off the table, onto his bed, which seems much more comfortable then paper on a table. He climbed back on the table and lay down on the paper. I touched him to move him again and he flopped onto his back and started to purr.

He is completely unreasonable.

I pet him in an attempt to pacify him. I could work on my writing in a few minutes.

His belly is very soft. Soft, warm, and gently vibrating with the constant presence of his loud purr as it cascades through him. It's a good sensation. It's a good sound. His fur is longer then is normal for Sanctuary cats, and much softer. Probably. I didn't exactly make a habit out of touching cats before. They couldn't have been softer then It's You! though. I can't image anything softer then It's You!'s fur.

I rubbed his belly a little, and then stroked his head. He pushed into my hand with all his weight, and I scratched at his face and neck. It's amazing how much force he likes being scratched with. My nails are short, but they are long enough to be felt, and he seems to love pushing his neck into them as hard as he can.

He ether really trusts me or is badly underestimating my capabilities. He didn't like me touching his neck when I first arrived, so it's probably trust.

He trusts me.

He is so fragile and vunerable, and he trusts me.

I suppose it's mutual, I am well aware what a cat is capable of doing if it wants to, and I still will hand wrestle with him. We've lived together for a while now, we understand each other as much as could be expected for different species.

He is so soft.

I could feel his purr through the thick fluff of his cheek.

I stoked his back and could feel the vibrations the whole way down.

Carmen and Lizard returned sooner then I thought they would, and I noticed it was dark already. That's another strange thing with this land, the days length isn't constant. I guessed it was just a short day, perhaps the local gods had plans.

I would have to practice writing another time.
