OK, this poll is finally done! And the results.... Well.... OK.... At least nobody said they didn't like The Fourm.....

YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! - 2 vote(s)! Not a chance. - 0 vote(s)! What's The Fourm? - 2 vote(s)! Indifferent - 0 vote(s)!

In other news, I'm going to be away for a few days again. Four Island should still be up, but if it goes down, and I don't seem like I'm interested in fixing it, this is why.

Thumbnail2The Fourm* is here.....

I've created a fourm for the website. You can go to it, register for free, and post what you want. Please, do so, PLEASE!!!!

Oops, sorry about that. But I'm really excited about The Fourm. Look at the above screenshot. Anyway, please go and try it! I bet it will be a wonderful way to converse and yes...

*NOTE: I am saying Fourm on purpose. On the Fourm, you are supposed to say Fourm not forum. (Four, get it?)

Because of the outcome to this poll, I'm not sure that everyone even knows what filesystems are. At least no one voted for HFS!

ext2 or ext3 - 2 vote(s)! FAT32 - 0 vote(s)! NTFS - 0 vote(s)! HFS - 0 vote(s)!

Also, once again, if anyone knows how to answer the questions of the previous post, I'd be really happy. Actually, please just focus on the first one, because it's much more annoying and because Smiley posted a comment about a way to do it that seems to work. Thanks Smiley!

Dvorak

I'd like to bring to everybody's attention a fun website called Dvorak.

It's a customizable card game, one in which you get to create your own deck of cards and play them with special rules.... OK. I'm not making it sound as fun as it actually is. That description is no good, go to the actual site, you'll enjoy it!

I have I user page on that wiki as well, go to User:Hatkirby. I have recommended some of the games on that page, and I have also put a link there to a deck I made myself. So try it! Go to Dvork and play! IT'S FUN!

EDIT: Oh yes, I forgot, I have a few questions I need to ask. I'd put them in the comments, but it saddens me to notice that no-one ever reads those anyway, so here they are (If you know the answer to any of them, please email it to me):

  • In Xubuntu, how to you get the display to stop turning off every 5 minutes of idleness, because it is driving me insane.
  • Also in Xubuntu, does anyone know how to turn of the BEEP noise, because in GNOME there was an obvious way to do it in the Control Panel, but that's not there in Xfce.

Hi, I'm back! Sorry for the unannounced downtime yesterday. I thought I put up something in yesterday's post about it, but nope!! Anyway, if you're wondering exactly WHY there was downtime yesterday, I'm here to tell you! Note to self: Make posts on blog sound less stupid

Yesterday I archived nearly everything on my computer (personal files, website(s), subversion repositories, databases...) with the handy-dandy Tar (filtered through bzip2)--which may explain why some data inputted yesterday after I archived everything is gone now--and installed Xubuntu onto my computer. Xubuntu, A: Looks much nicer, and B: Is much more CPU friendly. I think I may have made a post about Xubuntu before, and if I have... wait.. let me just go check...

Hmmm... I haven't really, I just advertised it in [blog]Polls wear Linux[/blog]. Anyway, Xubuntu is a great OS, and... wait.... I already said this. OFIHOIUASDHFOA!

What I'm trying--and failing--to say is, if you want Linux, and Gentoo is too advanced for you, GET XUBUNTU!

Ambiguous

Okeeeeuuuuuuay..... that was strange. Two days late for updating the poll of the week. GASP! That's a new record! I'm really sorry, I'll try not to do that again. Anyway, about the poll for last week... the results weren't really helpful. Take a look:

Yes! The blog can be a seperate secton! - 2 vote(s)! Yes! The blog needs to be re-done! - 0 vote(s)! Not really... - 2 vote(s)! Indifferent. - 1 vote(s)!

Oops! Darn it, I misspelled another word for an entire week and didn't notice! Sorry again!

I KNOW! Anyway, happy Palm Sunday, everyone! Only 1 more week until Easter!

In other news, the development of Xidet is going fine. The main base is complete, but the modularity system needs to be further along in it's development and some more modules need to be written before Xidet can be released.

You may remember me last month saying that I would release a new version of Tetrgi on March 3rd, but now have seen that I haven't. There is a good reason for this. I'm working on a new project called Xidet

Xidet is a text editor. Now, don't roll your eyes. Xidet is much better than Notepad or VI (well, I guess everything is better than VI) because while at first run, it will look a lot like Notepad with, is it possible, missing features, Xidet contains a modularity system which allows TONS of plugins written for Xidet to be modded in which can give Xidet anything from a simple Edit menu to a tabbed interface or code syntax hightlighting.

Xidet is a very important project. The reason this has anything to do with Tetrgi being late is because I've decided to postpone all other projects until the first release of Xidet is out, becuase I am sick and tired of having to either, for Java, use NetBeans to program (it's really slow), or for C++, use nano, because while I like nano, I need to modify many files at once, which is why the Tabbed-Interface plugin for Xidet will be very important to me.

This week's poll was great. I don't really want to say much more, less you all run away thinking that a 'Feburary 22nd 2008' is going to happen again. So, without any further ado, and by the way, that's a very nice hairpiece, here are the result!

First - 0 vote(s)! Second - 0 vote(s)! Third (current) - 4 vote(s)! All/None/Don't Care/Don't Know - 1 vote(s)!

By the way, everyone, the holiday system has had a recent problem with the Easter-related holidays being a month too late. That's been fixed now, so you should be able to go on to trust the holiday system here at Four Island.
